Daraja Imports brings fair trade socially responsible jewelry and goods to the US market from over 200 artisans and groups in Africa helping disadvantaged and at risk women build a better life.
Many people have hopes and dreams, and together we are helping the impoverished realize theirs.
BOONE, NC, January 30, 2015 -- Daraja means bridge in Swahili, and we take pride in bridging the gap between the US market and 200 artisans in groups we have partnered with in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Swaziland and South Africa. These groups provide fair and enjoyable work for those in difficult situations such as those orphaned or widowed by disease or genocide, or those who live in rural areas where work is hard to find. All of our goods are always Fair Trade, Local, and Sustainably Sourced.
handmade jewelry collections, each with a gorgeous design element of its own: Safari Chic, Bush Bead, Swazi, Zulu Grass, Paper Bead, Earth and Water, and the Empowerment Collection. A real jewelry highlight is the Kili-Mwanza Waterfall Necklace and the Kili-Dar Tie Necklace. These encircle the neck and then cascade into a glimmer of color just like a waterfall, representing a fusion of traditional art form and creative contemporary high quality designs.
Wouldn't it be nice to see the people you are helping by buying Fair Trade? Many of our products come signed
by the African artisans themselves. We are not a faceless, cold company, but a small, caring one who works on an individual level using fair trade relationships. We have a personal, mutual, and extensive relationship with many of the product creators in keeping all of the values of Daraja Imports at the forefront. Many people have hopes and dreams, and together we are helping the impoverished realize theirs.
